This year’s
Sunsure broker event took place in Gibraltar and
Spain in June and was, by popular agreement, one of the
best. After
an excellent opening night meal in Nuno’s restaurant at the Caleta
Hotel the
attendees were treated to a surprise guest appearance by England 1966
World Cup
winner and goalkeeping legend Gordon Banks, who gave an entertaining
talk about
his life and career and stayed on to sign autographs.

Conditions
were perfect for a fantastic day of golf at the
San Roque Club in Spain. Peter Sheppard surprised no one by
taking the
individual winners trophy again, Dan Dove won longest drive and Peter
Salford
was nearest the pin.

The winning
team trophy was accepted by Peter
Salford on behalf of his teammates Amanda Sheppard, Elaine Perez, and
Wayne
Martin. Golfers and non-golfers met up for a balmy evening of
open air
dining at the beautiful Cortijo Los Canos restaurant in Gaudiaro.

The
glorious weather continued for a relaxing day at the
Octagano Beach Club in Sotogrande, where no one ever has to fight to
get a sun
lounger. After a short interval to let the wonderful tapas
lunch go
down, the annual game of water polo (or “Broker Soup”) helped to burn
off a few
calories. Disturbingly, Rob Lally played on after losing his
trunks and
the other players stayed the pool! That’s competitive!
The final
night attendees enjoyed another superb meal at
Nuno’s followed by a short walk to the Tradewise Comedy Store (open one
night
only). Entertainment was provided by star stand up acts Rich
Wilson, hot
from London’s FYMFYG Comedy Bar, and Milton Jones, as seen on BBC’s
Mock the
Week. James Humphreys ended the proceedings with an emotional
and
motivational closing speech.
Thank you to
everyone who attended for making this one of
the best Sunsure events ever.
