This year was our 5th Sunsure event, once again hosted by the excellent Caleta Hotel in Gibraltar.

A lively evening in Nunos restaurant was followed by a day at the Beach Club, where activities as varied as ‘boules’, water polo and ‘dinghy-skiing’ were, we believe, enjoyed by all. It is fair to say that the Chippendales have nothing to fear from the torsos on display!!!!!!!!!!!!

We then split up for the next day, the more adventurous enjoying a round of golf at The San Roque Club with the remainder enjoying the sun and an extended lunch at The Queen’s Marina in Gibraltar.

All too soon James Humphreys was ‘thanking’ all for coming and David Burton of Blackfriars Insurance was responding accordingly and rather amusingly.

We celebrated the longest day of the year with the longest night of the week, James even managing to stay up long enough to see off the first few to the Airport the next morning!

Hope to see you all (and maybe a few more) next year.

This years Golf day was once again held at the San Roque Club, hosts of the Spanish Open.

As well as an individual Stapleford competition, there was a team competition and prizes for ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’.

WINNER - AMANDA SHEPPARD

The individual winner was Amanda Sheppard of Abbeygate Insurance, seen here collecting her prizes from Mike Tyler.

WINNER - TEAM SHEPPARD

The team competition was won, largely due to Amanda’s contribution, by Team Sheppard also pictured.

WINNER - ROBERT BAILEY

'Nearest the pin’ on the 3rd hole was won with ‘a shot in a million’ by Robert Bailey of Tradewise,
but collected in his absence by the player nearest the player nearest the pin, Ryan Georgiades of Plan Insurance.

WINNER - ARCHIE

‘Longest drive’ is always a hotly contested affair. This year despite the best efforts of Danny Imray, Steve Smith and Greg Garner, the winner was ‘Archie’, a 15 year old friend of our future Chairman Jake Humphreys, who is sponsored by Tradewise and currently plays off of a handicap
of 5.

Thanks to all who participated, a great day was had by all. Look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Tradewise Staff Conference & Awards Ceremony - 18/01/2007

This year’s staff conference was held at Walthamstow Stadium on Thursday 18th January and the compere for the evening was Mike Tyler, Chief Executive.

All staff attended the event, which kicked off with presentations from:

  • Mike Tyler, Chief Executive – Introduction, 2006 Business Plan Review

  • Melanie Jones,  Accounts Team Leader – An interesting review of the year incorporating new procedures and an explanation of how detailed information can be provided in a timely fashion.

  • Mike West, Credit Control Manager – To get an acceptable percentage of owed money in to provide sufficient cleared funds for the companies’ use.  With his use of some very nice slides conveyed his message on control procedures and targets very well.

  • Amanda Nash, Administration Team Leader – Gave a great talk on how the quality of service can be improved even further by looking at different ways to increase efficiency and how the administration department strive to do so.

  • Greg Garner, Underwriting Team Leader – Greg’s talk covered aspects of training in the department and their constant goal of improving business whether it be by varying products, online facilities, EDI etc.

  • Wayne Martin, Claims Team Leader – Very interesting talk on the continuing evolution of the claims team. This coupled with yet another fantastic slide show bought this part of the conference to an end.

  • Mike Tyler, Chief Executive –2007 Business Plan. “To be the best at what we do for everyone we do it for”

  • David Ratledge, Financial Director - A very articulate and well thought out part of the overall program conveying the rather complex area of company finance in terms anybody could understand.

  • Kevin Pike, Claims Director - A thought provoking, informative and almost shocking report on the cost of claims in the industry today, coupled with some well timed humour made this a very enjoyable section of the program.

  • Wayne Bradshaw, Sales & Marketing Director-  An amusing yet informative section of the evening incorporating many targets which the company needs to meet in the coming year and how we can accomplish this.

  • Alison Middleton, Operations Director - An interesting talk on efficiency and customer services again incorporating many targets for the coming year and some new and improved procedures to make sure these are met.

  • Annette Tyler, Human Resources Director - An interesting period of the evening covering “recruitment & retention”, “learning & development” and “compliance”. Thought out and well executed.

  • John Humphreys, IT Director - Presented a humorous speech with great enthusiasm covering the continuance of the development of online and in house systems to maximise the use of IT in the company.
